As a practising interpreter or translator, membership of WAITI gives you a voice that is heard and respected by both government and industry. The people who represent you are elected by you from among your colleague interpreters and translators.
As a member of WAITI you will be informed of the latest issues affecting our industry, and will have the opportunity to provide proactive and constructive input to policies and matters affecting our profession. For example, WAITI:
- in 2003, conducted one of the most comprehensive surveys of the interpreting and translation industry ever completed in WA
- was instrumental in the Cook Report on quality control in testing
- worked closely with Service Skills Australia on the project to scope the need for competency standards
- works closely with the Western Australian NAATI Member, the Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI), on state language policy and related issues
- works closely with Central TAFE, the state’s sole training provider
- has built a dialogue with the State health sector on issues of concern

It includes: stylish WAITI stationery templates, invoice and quote templates, pro forma job cost, time log and annual budget sheets, a copy of the WAITI Constitution, and guidelines for certifying documents.
